AgroRenew Plans $83 Million Facility in Knox County to Turn Melon Waste into Bioplastics

Breaking ground in 2024, the AgroRenew team of Brian & Katie Southern are transforming the ag industry by converting melon and pumpkin waste to bioplastics. This cutting edge facility will keep millions of tons of produce from going to waste, but also will produce a plastic substance that is biodegradable.

The $83 million facility will be 196,000 square feet and cover 20 acres located in Knox County, Indiana just outside of Vincennes, a rural town surrounded by melon and pumpkin farms. The facility is scheduled to be completed in 2026 and will provide 250 high level jobs.

Future plans for a new Bioplastics Innovation Center will mean even more science and engineering job opportunities as the company grows. The City of Vincennes along with the Knox County Economic Development Corporation and The Pantheon are very excited for the growth and innovation this brings to the community.
